Takatuka Lodge is a themed boutique resort directly on Sugar Beach in Barangay Nauhang, Sipalay City — one of Negros Occidental’s most beautiful beaches, a stretch of fine white sand at the edge of the Sipalay marine corridor. The resort’s 12 rooms are each given an individual fantasy theme, from the jungle-beach Bongo Bongo bungalow (elephant in the bedroom, zebra bathroom, beachfront veranda) to the Nautilus submarine (Jules Verne aesthetic, king bed, porthole views) to the Golden Empire throne room and the Cave — a bedroom built inside an artificial limestone cave with waterfall shower.
Diving is managed by Sea Explorers, the established PADI multi-center operator running dive programs from Cabilao (Bohol), Dauin, Malapascua, Sipalay, and Siquijor. The Takatuka–Sea Explorers partnership gives guests access to a modern, expertly equipped PADI dive center with the full Sea Explorers course and fun dive programme, complementing the resort’s strengths in accommodation, food, and atmosphere.
Sugar Beach’s position north of Punta Ballo gives access to both the established southern Sipalay sites and the northern circuit covering Danjugan Island and the Campomanes Bay wreck sites.
Twelve individually themed rooms in a garden and beachfront setting, each created around a narrative concept. Breakfast is included in all room rates.
Sea Explorers operates the dive center at Takatuka, a professionally equipped PADI facility with the full Sea Explorers course programme and dive schedule.

The themed room experience sets the rhythm differently from most dive resorts — checking into the Cave or the Nautilus is itself an event that most guests photograph extensively before unpacking. Morning dives with Sea Explorers follow the standard two-boat-run schedule. The infinity pool and TORTUGA restaurant are the afternoon and evening anchors. Live music at the lounge bar on scheduled evenings makes the resort self-sufficient for evening entertainment — the remote Sugar Beach location means there’s no expectation of going elsewhere.
The multilingual staff (English, German, Filipino) accommodates the European guest majority. Eva Rose and Marc are the resort operators and are typically present and available.
Divers and travel couples who want a genuinely distinctive accommodation experience rather than a functional dive resort, paired with a professional PADI dive centre. European guests who appreciate the German-accessible staff and European-quality restaurant. Anyone who finds the standard Philippine beachfront resort aesthetic too generic and wants a property where the room itself is a conversation topic. Sea Explorers guests looking for the Sipalay base that best balances dive infrastructure with resort quality.
