Sierra Madre Divers holds PADI 5 Star IDC, TecRec, and Mermaid Center certifications from its location directly on Alona Beach, Panglao. The operation covers an unusually broad range — recreational, technical, mermaid, adaptive, and professional-level diving — all from a compact beachfront facility.

With only 6 rooms on-site (additional accommodation through neighboring Hayahay Resort), the center prioritizes dive training density over resort-scale accommodation.

Accommodation & Facilities

The on-site accommodation is minimal — designed as a diver’s base rather than a resort experience.

• Facilities: Direct Alona Beach frontage, dive center with full equipment, restaurant. Nearby resorts (Alona Vida, Pyramid, Henann, Amorita) within walking distance for guests preferring higher-tier accommodation.
• Location: Central Alona Beach — all beach restaurants, bars, and services within walking distance.

The limited room count means advance booking is essential, especially during high season. Many guests book rooms at nearby resorts and walk to Sierra Madre for diving.

Dive Center & Operations

The center’s triple certification (IDC + TecRec + Mermaid) and adaptive diving capability make it one of the most versatile operations in the Visayas.

• Training: PADI 5 Star IDC — Discover Scuba through Instructor Development Course. TecRec technical diving. Mermaid courses. Adaptive diving for divers with disabilities. EFR training. Limited spots — book in advance.
• Equipment: Full rental inventory. Sidemount equipment available for tech courses.
• Boats: Daily trips to Balicasag Island, Pamilacan Island, Doljo, and Napaling sites.
• Guides: International instructor team. Instruction in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Filipino, Chinese, and additional languages on request.

The reef starts meters from the dive center. Water temperature ranges 26-30°C year-round with 15-20m average visibility. Sites are primarily wall and slope dives suited to multi-level profiles.

Daily Experience

Morning boat departures to Balicasag or Panglao wall sites. Professional students (Divemaster, IDC candidates) work alongside fun divers in a structured daily schedule. Limited spots means groups stay small.

The central Alona position gives instant post-dive access to the beach strip’s food and nightlife. High season (October-May) and peak months (April-May) fill quickly — early booking is strongly recommended.

The center can verify PADI credentials digitally. Non-PADI agency cards should be brought physically. The center also partners with neighboring Hayahay Resort for accommodation packages, making multi-night dive-and-stay bookings straightforward.
