Overview

Salamangka Beach and Dive Resort is a 21-room boutique property on Siquijor‘s west coast in San Juan. The on-site dive center is operated by Sea Explorers Philippines, a multi-location chain with centers across the Visayas (Cabilao, Dauin, Malapascua, Sipalay).

Opened in 2014 with DOT accreditation, the resort generates 40% of its energy from solar panels and has eliminated plastic bottles in favor of complimentary reusable aluminum bottles for each guest.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 21 rooms span four categories, ascending from garden-level cottages to elevated ocean-view lofts with jacuzzi tubs.

  • Rooms: 21 total — Garden Cottages (28 sqm, queen or twin), Bay View Cottage Lofts, Ocean View Lofts (102 sqm, king + twin/queen, jacuzzi, Nespresso machine), Superior Ocean View Lofts. All with AC, minibar, hairdryer, safe, furnished balcony/terrace, 24-hour power (backup generator).
  • Facilities: Outdoor pool with swim-up bar, private beach, fitness center/gym, spa, jogging pathways, 24-hour front desk, babysitting on request. Car hire, laundry service, safety deposit boxes at reception.
  • Dining: Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Swim-up bar with cocktail service.

The swim-up bar facing the ocean is the resort’s social centerpiece — cocktails served from in-pool seats.

Dive Center & Operations

Sea Explorers operates the dive center directly on the beach. Full rental equipment for up to 20 guests is maintained on-site, including two children’s sets. The center stocks 12L aluminum tanks with both INT and DIN valves, plus 8L, 10L, and 15L options.

  • Training: PADI — Discover Scuba through Divemaster. Courses in English, Tagalog, Cebuano, German, French, and additional languages on request.
  • Equipment: Full rental for 20 divers including 2 children’s sets. Tanks from 8L to 15L with INT and DIN. O2 equipment, first aid kit, and fish ID library on-site.
  • Boats: Two purpose-built dive boats covering all Siquijor sites. Day trips to Apo Island and Selinog Island. Max 5 divers per guide (6 if one is DM/instructor).
  • Guides: PADI instructors and divemasters. Sea Explorers’ multi-center network means staff rotate through different islands with broad site knowledge.

Dive center open daily 8 AM to 7 PM. Payment in PHP, EUR, CHF, USD, JPY, or credit card via PayPal. Dive center and hotel bills are separate.

Daily Experience

Two-tank and single-tank boat dives depart from the beach. Most sites are 5-10 minutes from the center. Between dives, the swim-up bar and pool replace traditional boat surface intervals.

The gym and jogging paths serve active guests on rest days. Spa treatments fill post-dive evenings. The resort’s location on the Siquijor Circumferential Road makes the full island accessible by motorbike or car.

Ferry access from Dumaguete takes 1-1.5 hours. The resort arranges transfers from Siquijor Port (30 minutes by car).
